PAINTER IN VALLDEMOSSA

A collective exhibition of works by artists who live in Valldemossa. Whilst some are natives of the town, many come from other areas of Spain and abroad. The participating artists included: Antonio Bernal, Antonio Bibiloni, Bernat Estaràs (“Reüll”), Bruno Zupan, Claudio Torcigliani, David Goode, Emili Parejo, Günter Fürst , Jaime Colorao, Lisa Schoefer, Lluís Blanes, Lourdes Sampol , Mónica Areilza, Natasha Zupan, Nils Burwitz, Orlando Paladini, Pedro Oliver, Sergio Álvarez del Valle and Waltraud Wolf.
ENRIQUE OCHOA (1891-1978): L’OMBRA DE CHOPIN A VALLDEMOSSA (THE SHADOW OF CHOPIN IN VALLDEMOSSA)

The exhibition recovered the figure of Enrique Ochoa in his relationship with Valldemossa and music. The artist took refuge in a cell of La Cartoixa in the 1940s, embarking on a fascinating introspective journey. On display were thirty unpublished ink drawings dating from 1946 in which Ochoa evokes the oneiric images inspired by the music of Chopin and his stay in La Cartoixa.

An exhibition of works by Ricard Anckermann i Riera (Palma 1842-1907) and Antoni Ribas i Oliver (Palma 1845-1911), two of the most important painters of 19th-century Mallorca, who shared teachers, studios, family ties, interests and pictorial motifs.

Throughout the twenty-five years of the competition, the FotoPres Awards have shed light on the work of photojournalists, bearing witness to the transformations of our environment, with a growing interest in social issues. This exhibition displayed the works of three award-winning photographers: Elisa González, for her pieces on Alzheimer’s disease; Lorena Ros, for a series of photos on victims of child abuse; and Pep Bonet, for an account of the effects of the civil war in Sierra Leone. Moreover, visitors could also view the works of the young photographers who received grants in that year’s celebration of the event.
OPENING EXHIBITION: Josep Coll Bardolet

In honour of Josep Coll Bardolet, this exhibition featured a selection of the artist’s works throughout his career. The display was set up as a monographic exhibition, with pieces from all the different stages of his pictorial work and included all of the themes explored by Coll Bardolet during the 70+ years of his career. Special emphasis was placed on the works that he created in Mallorca. |
